Privacy Policy for Recognize Orthoptera

This Privacy Policy describes how Michał Mosór (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the Recognize Orthoptera mobile application (“the App”).

1. Overview

Recognize Orthoptera is an offline-first field identification app designed for use in areas without internet access. The App stores all data locally on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not collect analytics, and we do not transmit your personal data to any third party.

2. Data We Collect

The App may collect the following data solely on your device:
a) Location Data When you add a species to your observation list, the App records your geographic coordinates and the exact time of the observation. This is done only with your explicit permission via your device’s location permission prompt. Location data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
b) Observation Data Species identifications, timestamps, and geographic coordinates that you add to your observation list are stored locally on your device.

3. How We Use Your Data

All data collected by the App is used exclusively to provide the App’s core functionality:
– To record and display your observation list
– To allow you to export your observations to a CSV file for your own use

We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, or any other purpose.

4. Data Export

The App allows you to export your observation list as a CSV file. This export is initiated solely by you and is saved to your device. We do not receive or have access to exported files.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share your data with any third parties. No data is transmitted from your device to us or any external service.

6. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain any servers or databases containing your personal information. Deleting the App from your device will remove all locally stored data.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a user in Poland and the European Union, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
– Right of access: You can view all your data directly within the App.
– Right to deletion: You can delete your observation list at any time within the App, or by uninstalling the App.
– Right to data portability: You can export your data at any time using the CSV export feature.

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we have no access to it, exercising these rights is fully within your control.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 16. The App is intended for use by researchers, biologists, and nature enthusiasts.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
